The Enterprise Renewal Trap
Industry forums document contractors reporting 150% price jumps at renewal with no advance notice, and long-term customers seeing their rates double over 7 years. One contractor's verbatim account from TrustRadius: "Even with written correspondence locking in agreed pricing, it was not honored — we were forced to commit to the platform's standard pricing."
TrueGrade pricing is locked at signing for your contract term. No surprises at renewal.

Hidden costs
What you don't pay for with TrueGrade
Legacy enterprise platforms often layer payment-processing fees, add-on modules, and implementation consulting on top of subscription pricing. These are the line items TrueGrade eliminates entirely.
Per-seat creep
Incumbent enterprise platforms price on Annual Construction Volume (ACV) — the ACV rate rises with firm size. As your construction volume grows, you pay more regardless of how many people you add. TrueGrade charges a flat rate regardless of how much work you build.
Compliance enforcement add-on
Incumbent platforms do not natively block payments on expired compliance documents. That requires a third-party add-on at $800–$2,500/year on top of your base subscription. TrueGrade's compliance scorecard is native — no add-on, no extra invoice.
SSO as an enterprise upsell
Single sign-on (SSO) on category-leading platforms is an enterprise-tier feature that requires a custom contract. TrueGrade includes OIDC-based SSO (Entra, Google Workspace, Okta) at Professional tier — no upgrade, no extra negotiation.
Implementation consulting
Legacy enterprise platform year-one costs typically include $10,000–$30,000 in professional services for implementation. This is standard practice, not optional — the onboarding timeline is 3–6 months by the platforms' own documentation. TrueGrade is self-serve. No professional services engagement is needed or offered.
QuickBooks integration bridge
Many legacy platforms lack a native QuickBooks Online connector. Syncing financials to QBO requires a third-party sync bridge (~$500+/year). TrueGrade QuickBooks integration is on the roadmap (Q3) — no third-party bridge required.
Document storage lock-in
Documents stored in incumbent platforms live in that platform's infrastructure. You cannot access them outside of the platform. At renewal, this creates leverage — the cost of leaving includes recovering all your project documents. TrueGrade's BYOB storage means your documents stay in your own S3 bucket. Cancelling TrueGrade costs you nothing on the document side.

The math
Designed for the $5–20M contractor bracket.
Incumbent enterprise platforms price on Annual Construction Volume — the more work you build, the more they extract. TrueGrade is flat regardless of volume.
| Firm size (ACV) | Legacy enterprise annual cost | TrueGrade annual cost | Annual savings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under $5M ACV | $4,500–$10,000/yr (enterprise platforms may decline to quote at this size) | $5,088/yr (Starter) | Comparable cost — and the platform may not take you |
| $5M–$20M ACV | $10,000–$40,000/yr (subscription alone) | $10,188/yr (Professional) | Up to $29,800/yr |
| $20M–$50M ACV | $20,000–$80,000/yr | $10,188/yr (Professional) | Up to $69,800/yr |
| $50M–$250M ACV | $50,000–$150,000/yr | $25,488/yr (Enterprise) | Up to $124,500/yr |
Legacy enterprise platform year-1 all-in cost (20-person, $15M GC): Subscription $20,000–$35,000 + implementation consulting $10,000–$30,000 + data migration $2,000–$5,000 + staff training $3,000–$10,000 + optional add-on modules $2,400–$6,000 each. Realistic year-one total: $35,000–$75,000+. TrueGrade equivalent: $10,188 + $0 implementation. Self-serve onboarding in days.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change plans later?
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
What counts as a "project"?
A project is any active construction project in TrueGrade with at least one associated subcontractor, certification, or compliance workflow. Archived projects do not count against your limit.
Do subcontractors need an account?
No. Subcontractors receive a magic link to upload their documents. They do not need a paid TrueGrade account — or any account at all. Document submission is included in your plan. Incumbent enterprise platforms typically require subs to create and maintain a vendor account to interact with your portal — TrueGrade does not.
Is there an annual discount?
Yes. Annual billing saves 15% compared to monthly billing. Starter billed annually is $424/mo ($5,088/yr), Professional is $849/mo ($10,188/yr), and Enterprise is $2,124/mo ($25,488/yr).
What does Enterprise include?
Enterprise includes unlimited projects and users, API access, SSO/SAML, and priority email support. All the same self-serve onboarding as other plans — no sales process required. SSO is included in the subscription, not locked behind a custom enterprise contract.
Why is TrueGrade priced this way?
Legacy construction management platforms do not publish prices. Getting a quote requires 2–3 sales calls and a 45-minute demo. For a $5–20M contractor, documented costs run $10,000–$40,000/year for the subscription alone — before implementation consulting ($10,000–$30,000), data migration ($2,000–$5,000), and staff training ($3,000–$10,000). Realistic year-one total for a 20-person, $15M GC on an enterprise platform: $35,000–$75,000+. TrueGrade Professional is $10,188/year, published right here, with self-serve onboarding measured in days, not months, and no implementation fees.
Is my pricing locked in?
Yes. Your rate is locked at signing for the length of your contract term. Incumbent enterprise platforms have documented cases of contractors reporting 150% price increases at renewal with no advance notice, and long-term users seeing rates double over 7 years. That will not happen here.
Can I import my data from my current platform?
Yes. TrueGrade supports importing from legacy construction platforms through MPX schedule exports and CSV directory exports — no API integration required. The import wizard walks through project list, subcontractor directory, compliance documents, and schedule baseline in a guided flow. Switching from your current platform is a matter of hours, not a 6-month migration project.
How long does onboarding take?
Most teams are running active projects within a week of signup. There are no mandatory professional services engagements and no kickoff calls required to access the product. Category-leading enterprise platforms typically describe 3–6 month onboarding timelines requiring 40–60 hours of internal setup effort. TrueGrade is self-serve from day one — invite your team, add a project, and start tracking.
Does TrueGrade have an API?
API access is included at the Enterprise tier. We are building toward a public REST API with the same surface coverage as the app. The established enterprise tools in this space gate API access by plan and charge separately for API-heavy integrations. TrueGrade's API is included in your subscription — no per-call billing, no API add-on.
Are contracts annual? Can I cancel?
Month-to-month plans on Starter have no annual commitment — cancel any time. Annual plans are billed upfront for a 12-month term and are not refundable mid-term, but your price is guaranteed for the full year. Legacy enterprise platforms require annual minimum commitments as standard, with multi-year contracts often required for their lowest per-unit rate. There is no negotiated multi-year lock-in here.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is yours. On cancellation, you can export all project data, subcontractor records, compliance documents, and schedule history in standard formats. If you are on BYOB storage (Professional and Enterprise), your documents remain in your own S3 bucket and are completely unaffected by cancellation. Incumbent enterprise platforms use closed-bucket storage models — documents stored there are accessible only through their interface, which creates leverage at renewal. TrueGrade is architected to prevent that.
